Portraits

Image
This week we attempted to do our first portraits using our Wacom tablets, I used an older photo from my father of his mother, my nonna, Carmela. I had a lot of fun recreating this image and hope to only make my skills stronger and stronger moving forward! We started with picking a picture and creating just an outline of the image: After, we hid the image and added in background colour with some light tonal values: Continuing to add more and more tonal values At this point, I started to add more details such as a few major hilites as well as filling in the rest of the painting! Finally, I made my darks much darker and blended my hilites into the piece to give it a more realistic look and feel to the piece! Overall for my first attempt, I am happy with this portrait and only hope I can strengthen my skills as I continue my education and design career!

Four thumbnails and Inspo This week I began sketching some movie posters that have the theme family integrated into them. I started with my instinct being my first thumbnail the top left, which was monsters kept it nice and fun. Then I moved onto my top right image which was a man with a dog and how the dog represents the males family. Moving forward onto the bottom left, which is a couple who is currently going through a hard time I used a divider and shaded that. Finally, I finished off with the bottom right image which is a robot and his friends again I really enjoyed this one inspired by a different twist on the monster thumbnail! Here is some inspiration that I used for when I was designing my monster family movie poster:
