Toronto Police Services Thumbnails

Image
For this week we were asked to take our brainstorming ideas and to further expand them into cleaner thumbnail sketches. For each sketch, we were asked to make them square shaped although the dimensions were up to us to determine providing that the PPI was 300. I went ahead and made mine 5 x 5. For each sketch I started with linework to determine the overall image, after that, I went back in and added a new layer which is where I added all of my shading. After I was happy with the imagery and shading I finally came back in and added the required typography to each thumbnail.  Thumbnail #1 Linework + Shading Thumbnail #2 Linework + Shading Thumbnail #3 Linework + Shading Thumbnail #4 Linework + Shading

Toronto Police Services Brainstorming

For this week we have been given a legitimate client which just so happens to be The Toronto Police department. They are asking us to create a hiring day poster, the required text is "One career, many opportunities" I first started off by researching their Instagram page and also just reading on their website, this is all to gain some background knowledge on what they are looking for as well as what might help me create a successful poster for them. A couple of main ideas came to my head immediately; I want to have a cartoon/vectorized effect while utilizing thin and thick lines on the posters as well as keep the colour scheme simple and focusing on primary colours. Also, I must keep in mind that this will potentially be going on an Instagram feed to the keep the drawing more square-based, as well as the dpi at 300. Initially, I started thinking about over 15 different ideas in my head, then narrowed it down to about 7 ideas to roughly sketch out. That way I haven't limi

Grim Reaper - Storyboard Comps

Image
For this second part of the assignment, we were asked to create larger comprehensive sketches of our thumbnails. I started with some line art to get placement correct.  This sketch the grim reaper is playing his radio to get music playing in the background while he is about to enjoy his bubble bath. After I was happy with the linework I then decided to add in colour, furthermore with some subtle hilites and shadows. This is my second sketch of the grim reaper filling the bath up with water, I drew out everything first made sure I was happy with it. After I was content with the linework part I proceed to add colour and again hilites and shadows Moving onto my third comp sketch, I went with a close up shot of the bath being filled with bubbles. I then created the linework and made sure I was happy with that After being content with the linework I added colour and hilites as well as shadows Finally doing my last comp line drawing placing

Grim Reaper- Storyboard

Image
For this week we were asked to replicate a storyboard to promote scented candles and use the Grim Reaper as the main character. In the first scene, the reaper is about to start playing his music, with some candles around it. Next, the water is filling up the bathtub and the reaper is starting to light candles around his bath.  After that there is a close-up shot of bubble bath filling up the tub, filling the tub with lots of bubbles! More candles have been lite around the tub as well. Finally, the reaper sits in his tub reading a magazine with his scented candles surrounded by lots of bubbles in his bath! For each of these scenes, I started with linework then after feeling happy and comfortable with the drawing. I went in further and add some light shading to create a bit of depth!
